Red Star Poker Review
Based in Curacao, Red Star Poker had originally been created with the goal to target the Russian online poker market. Whether or not it has been successful at that is not known, one thing is certain though: it still accepts US players, and that – especially in the wake of the Black Friday events – is not an insignificant feat. Red Star Poker is a member of the Revolution network. The site has made certain that it would welcome US players by making almost every deposit and withdrawal method available. The support team is really helpful and knowledgeable as well. They can be reached through live chat, so taking care of your problems should be as easy as 1-2-3.
Traffic at the site is more than decent. We cannot currently tell you an accurate number, but there are at least 5 NL Holdem tables blasting away full steam at all limits, all the way up to $2/$4. The game selection includes Omaha and Stud too, but these poker variants aren't particularly popular at the site. The majority of the players are concentrated on the low stakes NL Holdem tables.
Tournaments-wise the site is a pretty happening spot indeed. There's always something going on, and the loyalty events, to which players can buy in with their gold cards and gold chips, never fail to attract a genuine throng.
Those looking for massive prize-pools will be glad to learn that there's a $20k guaranteed MTT running at Red Star Poker each day. In addition to that, there's a weekly $100k guaranteed and a monthly $250k guaranteed.
The quality of the competition is mixed. There are many US players at the site and quite a few Scandinavians as well, which isn't particularly great news for those looking to squeeze extra juice out of weak tight and weak loose players. The micro limits are rife with fish, therefore multi tabling can be a profitable undertaking for a player who has the skills and the patience to tinker away at it.
